CASE STUDY 4:

PROJECT: Bioterrorism Emergency Response for 14 Bay Area Counties (Bay Area Disaster Meds)

CLIENT: Bay Area Mass Prophylaxis Working Group (BAMPWG)

QUICK RESPONSE TO WIDESPREAD PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCIES

CHALLENGE

Fourteen Bay Area Public Health departments needed a website to assist in distributing antibiotics to the greater Bay Area public in the event of a large-scale public health emergency such as a bioterrorism event or a disease outbreak.  The site needed to be quick loading and be able to handle sudden surges in traffic.

SOLUTION

A drug dispensing screening algorithm was developed for users to select the appropriate medicine based on a variety of factors like age, weight, and health conditions. Administrative functions were developed to quickly move the site from standby to emergency mode with full reporting capabilities. Site has a robust interface for content and document management, and supports three languages.
