CASE STUDY 2:

PROJECT: E-commerce and searchable databases for the Workers Compensation Insurance Industry in California

CLIENT: Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California (WCIRB)

NEW WEBSITE DEEPENS RESEARCH CAPABILITIES AND EASES INTERNAL BOTTLENECKS E-Commerce

CHALLENGE

Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California is responsible for determining workers compensation rates and providing education for CA employers. Their website couldn’t support the breadth of their customers needs. Content on the site was hard to find, the navigation not clear, and the structure lacked a logical hierarchy.

SOLUTION

Drupal was chosen as a framework due to its’ strong business-class content management functions, its’ extensibility, and its’ large installed base. Site functions were decentralized, and a custom workflow approval process was developed, allowing site editors to manage the flow, while still getting required signoff from the executive team.

Huge Media worked closely with staff to rework the information architecture and to organize content by interest to various stakeholders, eliminating redundant pages and streamlining the site navigation.

The result was a more user focused site, one that better highlighted key information throughout the site. A variety of analytics and custom reporting was implemented to gain a better understanding of how the site was being utilized.

An e-commerce application was developed for customers to purchase custom research reports to replace phone ordering. Customer orders placed on the website are now pushed to the client’s internal order management system, considerably cutting staff time to process an order.
